Data Recovery in Hallandale Beach & West Park
Lost files? Drive making strange noises? Computer won't boot but you need what's on it? At Glitch Tech, we do honest data recovery for laptops, desktops, external hard drives, USB sticks, and SD cards. We start with a diagnostic, tell you what's actually possible, and only do work you've approved. No false promises.
Can we actually get your files back?
Honest answer: it depends on the type of damage. Here's how we think about it.
Very recoverable in most cases:
- Files you accidentally deleted (especially recently — before they get overwritten)
- Drives you accidentally formatted (especially quick formats)
- Corrupted partitions or file systems
- The computer won't boot, but the drive itself still works
- Drives that mount but can't be read normally
Sometimes recoverable, depends on the drive:
- Drives with bad sectors or read errors
- Drives that don't show up but aren't physically damaged
- Failed SSDs (more on this below)
Often needs a specialized clean-room lab:
- Drives that have been physically damaged, dropped, or water-damaged
- Drives making clicking, grinding, or beeping sounds
We start with a diagnostic and tell you the truth about what's possible — before any work begins.
If your drive is making clicking, grinding, or beeping noises — stop using it.
This is one of the most important things to know about data recovery. Those sounds usually mean physical failure inside the drive. Every minute you keep using it can cause more damage and reduce the chance of recovery.
What to do right now:
- Power the device off
- Don't try to "fix" it with recovery software — that can make things worse
- Don't keep restarting the computer hoping it'll come back
- Bring it to us as-is, or call us first
We'll evaluate it carefully and tell you whether we can recover it ourselves or whether you'll need a specialized clean-room lab. Either way, you get a straight answer.
What we recover
- Photos — family pictures, phone backups, years of memories
- Documents — work files, school papers, tax records, contracts
- Videos — wedding videos, home movies, recordings
- Music libraries and downloaded media
- Locally saved emails and contacts
- Project files, source code, design files, business records
We know these files matter. We treat them that way — copied to a separate drive, returned to you, original handled carefully.
What we work with
- Laptop and desktop hard drives (HDD)
- Solid-state drives (SSD), both SATA and NVMe
- External hard drives and portable USB drives
- USB flash drives and thumb drives
- SD cards and microSD cards from cameras and phones
SSD vs HDD — a quick honest note: When SSDs fail, they're often harder to recover from than failed HDDs. SSD controllers handle data differently, and some drives use built-in encryption that complicates recovery once the controller dies. We'll always look, but we'll tell you up front if recovery from your specific drive is unlikely so you can decide what makes sense.
How our process works
- Diagnostic. Bring us the drive (or we come to you). We figure out what's actually wrong — accidental deletion, file system corruption, hardware failure, something else. Diagnostic is free or low-cost depending on case complexity, and we tell you the cost up front.
- Honest assessment. We tell you what's recoverable, what isn't, and what it'll cost. No guesswork pricing — you see the price before any recovery work begins.
- You approve. Only if you say yes do we start. If we don't think recovery is possible in our shop — for example, if the drive needs a clean-room lab — we'll tell you and point you toward a specialized service that can.
- Recovery and return. We attempt recovery, copy your files to a separate drive (yours or ours, your choice), and return everything to you. We don't keep copies of your data.
Pricing
for most data recovery cases.
Final price depends on the type of drive and how complex the recovery is. You'll always see the price before we start. Diagnostic is free or low-cost — quoted up front, no surprises.
If recovery is not possible, you do not pay for recovery work. Any diagnostic fee will be explained before we begin.
How long it takes
It depends on the case:
- Simple cases (recently deleted files, file system corruption, drives that mount but won't read normally) — often a few hours to same-day.
- Moderate cases (drives with read errors, partial corruption, recovery requiring multiple passes) — usually one to a few days.
- Complex cases (failing drives, large amounts of data, drives needing specialized handling) — can take longer; we'll give you a realistic timeline after the diagnostic.
Need it urgently? Tell us up front. We'll be honest about whether faster is realistic for your specific case.
Honest limits
We need to be straight with you about a few things.
- We cannot guarantee recovery. Anyone who promises 100% recovery before looking at the drive is not being honest with you. The best we can do is diagnose carefully, tell you what's likely, and try.
- Physically damaged drives often need a clean-room lab. Drives that have been dropped, water-damaged, or are making clicking or grinding sounds frequently need specialized equipment we don't have. We'll tell you when that's the case and recommend a lab that does this work.
- Time matters. The longer a failing drive sits unused — or worse, the longer it keeps getting used after the problem starts — the harder recovery gets. If you can, bring it to us soon.
- Some data is genuinely gone. Files that have been deleted and overwritten by new data, drives that have been securely wiped, and certain types of SSD failures can be unrecoverable. We'll tell you honestly if that's where things stand.
We'd rather lose a job by being honest than take your money for work we can't deliver.
